Introduction

The so-called pulse transformer is a broadband transformer. Nonlinear distortion is an extremely important indicator for communication transformers, so the transformer is required to operate at the starting permeability of the core, so that even a transformer with very small power like the input transformer has to be quite large. In addition to considering the frequency characteristics of the transformer, how to reduce the loss is also a very concerned issue.

Pulse transformer working principle

The working principle of pulse transformer uses the magnetic saturation performance of the iron core to turn the input sine wave voltage into a transformer with a narrow pulse output voltage. It can be used for ignition of burners, trigger of thyristors, etc. The pulse transformer structure is that the original winding is sleeved on the core column with a large section made of silicon steel sheets, and the secondary winding is sleeved on the core column with a small section made of Pomo alloy material that is easy to highly saturate, and a magnetic shunt can be set in the middle of the two columns. The relationship between voltage and magnetic flux, the input voltage u1 is a sine wave, which produces a sinusoidal magnetic flux Φ1 in the left iron core. The magnetic flux Φ2 in the right core is highly saturated and is a flat-top wave, which only changes around zero and immediately saturates to a fixed value. When Φ2 crosses the zero value, a very steep narrow pulse electromotive force e2 is induced in the secondary winding. The magnetic shunt has an air gap, and Φσ basically changes linearly, similar to magnetic leakage, and its function is to ensure that Φ1 is a sine wave.

The main use of pulse transformers

Pulse transformers are widely used in radar, conversion technology; matching load resistance and feeder characteristic impedance; increasing or decreasing pulse voltage; changing the polarity of pulse; isolation of transformer secondary circuits and primary circuits using several secondary windings to obtain phase relationship; isolating the DC component of the power supply part; strong coupling between the collector (anode) and base (gate) in the transistor (or tube) pulse oscillator; Several secondary windings are used to obtain several pulses of different amplitudes, so that the plate loop and gate loop of the tube, or the collector and base of the transistor form positive feedback between the collector and the base, so as to generate self-excited oscillation; as a power synthesis and conversion element
